Sometimes you get lucky on eBay. I got these minis at a reasonable price, which for me means something between 8 and 20 euros.

Ok, that’s not very reasonable.

Both the Canoness and the Sister Superior were unpainted, and the Witch Hunter was still in the original blister.

Thanks to the Collecting Citadel Miniatures wiki and Lexicanum I could find out that these two models were released in 2004 at the end of 3rd edition.

That’s a bit less “Oldhammery” than I expected, still, the difference in scale with modern models makes them feel like from another era.

To keep in mind, GW didn’t release any new Sisters models until 8th edition ten years later!

This Witch Hunter is from around the same time, 2004.

However, this is not an original metal mini, what I got is a Finecast reprint.

Interestingly, this miniature scale feels closer to a modern GW minis, The two previous miniatures were closer to a 25 mm scale rather than 28 mm.

These three minis have something in common: they all have been hand-sculpted. There is something unique to hand-sculpted miniatures that computer-designed miniatures don’t have.

Maybe is the thick details, the exaggerated face expressions, or the heroic scale.

Maybe, to be fair, we should say “Handhammer” instead of “Oldhammer”.
